Robert Allen in currently in his 16th year teaching, and is in his 9th year as 7-12 Band Director at Hoosick Falls Central School. Previously he was a 5-12 Band Director/General Music Teacher at Clifton-Fine Central School, and has also taught as an Adjunct Professor at The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and Northeastern Baptist College. He is the recipient of the 2014 Teachers Of Excellence Award from Senator Kathleen Marchione, and also was selected for the 2013 CASDA Scholars’ Recognition Program. He has also directed and musical directed over a dozen high school drama productions.
Mr. Allen received his undergraduate degree in Music Education and Masters’ Degree in Music Performance from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where he studied trombone with Dr. Mark Hartman, euphonium with Dr. Peter Popiel, conducting with Dr. Timothy Topolewski and Heather Eyerly, and piano with Eugenia Tsarov and Paul Wyse.
Mr. Allen has guest conducted several ensembles at all levels, and has composed several pieces for band. He has served as secretary for the Rensellaer County School Music Association, and is a NYSSMA Brass Adjudicator. He also coaches youth soccer in the town of Hoosick Falls.
He lives in Hoosick Falls with his wife Heather of 11 years and his four amazing children. In the off chance that he has free time (which doesn’t come often with a large family), Mr. Allen enjoys acting, writing web pages, listening to all kinds of music, playing various instruments at church, reading, and playing many sports, including tennis and basketball.
