Luke Hoag, a fifth grader at Hoosick Falls Central School, received a wish from Make-A-Wish when he was younger.
This once-in-a-lifetime experience forever left its mark on Luke, and made him thankful for Make-A-Wish, an organization that grants wishes to children who have a life-threatening medical condition.
A firm believer in the power of wishes, Luke set a goal to help make the wishes of other children come true. His opportunity came when two years ago, Macy’s pledged to donate one dollar to Make-A-Wish for every letter they received that is addressed to Santa. They then upped the fundraising potential by pledging to donate double that amount (two dollars per letter) on one day during the holiday season known as “Believe Day.” This year, Believe Day is on Dec. 8, and Luke hopes to top the incredible $88,000 he raised last holiday season. (His goal was 25,000 letters or $50,000.)
Luke is very thankful for everyone who helped him exceed his 2016 goal. He’ll need your help and letters again this year to go beyond that goal and to help spread the word about Make-A-Wish.
Your letters can be in any format, on any paper or type of card. Need a template? Try one of these: Templates.
