Mrs. Brownell grew up on a small working dairy farm in upstate New York. She was active in 4-H and held the title of Master Dairy Showman several times, for showing her Holstein cows at her local county fair. After high school she attended the College of Saint Rose for her undergraduate study where she had a dual major in Elementary Education and Special Education. She then attended the University at Albany for her Master’s degree in Reading. Mrs. Brownell teaches English Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies. She is also a certified yoga teacher through Yoga Vidya, a Yoga Alliance certified school. She enjoys teaching yoga at the school and in the community. She has been teaching fourth grade at Hoosick Falls Central School since 2006.
Mrs. Brownell is a member of the West Hoosick Fire Department. She is a member of the Hoosick Falls town Historical Society, and the Friends of Bennington Battlefield. She also participates in a variety of volunteer opportunities through her church and the PTA.
In school she enjoys dramatically reading aloud to get kids excited about literature, and creating lessons and activities that bring history to life for her students. In her spare time she enjoys yoga, reading, hiking with her family and dog, reading, agriculture, reading, home improvement projects, reading, cooking, reading and learning about history, and playing with her two daughters. (Did we mention that she also enjoys reading?!)
