Recently art students visited MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA.
The museum features many large art pieces that often take up entire rooms. The art on display also shows a wide range of techniques that the students are learning about in their classes.
Some of the students who went on the field trip had been to MASS MoCA on past trips, but most had never been and were impressed by what they saw.
In addition to viewing and experiencing the art, students also learned a bit about the industrial history of our area. The museum is housed in a former mill (Sprague Electric) which was a major employer in the North Adams area for decades. The tour guides explained some of the background of that company and how the museum ended up in the space.
