Two of our students recently competed in the Audio/Radio Production Competition at the SkillsUSA Vermont State Conference and took home medals! Senior Codi Frier won gold, and junior Hailey Bedford placed third. Codi and Hailey both attend the Video & TV Production Program at Southwest Tech in Bennington, VT.
Senior Codi Frier and teammate Jasper Conwill from MAUHS took home a gold medal. Codi was awarded $2,000 for an on-campus diploma or $1,000 for an online certificate program from the Academy for Media Production in PA, as well as $1,000 for use at any Vermont State University. Codi and Jasper will represent the Video & TV Production Program, Southwest Tech and Vermont State, at the SkillsUSA Nationals in Atlanta in June.
Junior Hailey Bedford also competed in the conference with her teammate Isabella (Izzy) Gibson (MAUHS) and placed third!

Codi and Jasper were very excited to compete in the Audio/Radio Production competition at the SkillsUSA Vermont State Conference, even though neither had formal training or experience with radio production. I knew that they would do well, because they were interested in the contest from the moment that I first offered it as an option. Codi and Jasper worked hard to practice and prepare, and even learned new skills, equipment and software in order to compete. I am proud of them for their success, and I am confident that they will positively represent the Video & TV Production Program, Southwest Tech and Vermont State at SkillsUSA Nationals in Atlanta in June.
Hailey and her partner, Isabella (Izzy) Gibson, did a great job in the same competition. They also had no formal radio training, but their work ethic, creativity, and determination led to a very impressive submission to the contest, which secured them bronze medals. It is very exciting that four members of our Program secured medals this year. Five other Program students won medals in various competitions as well.
