🐾🎉Here is Coach Nelson's update from this past weekend's New York State Tournament for Wrestling: "Senior Luke Gillis came up short of the podium, going 0-2 after battling an illness early in the week. Luke went down swinging in one of the toughest weight classes of the tournament. Luke has been the pillar of our team with his strong drive to get to the next level with year round training and influence on his younger teammates. He ended with a stellar high school career, finishing as a section 2 champion, 3x class finalist and 2x NYS qualifier. Sophomore Asher Colegrove ended our 7 year drought, earning a spot in the NYS podium. Asher trailed 4-0 in his blood round match with 2 minutes left pulling out a gritty win with a last second takedown in the 3rd period and an overtime takedown to win it the match. Asher ended up finishing in 8th place. Asher defeated the 6th place finisher in the tournament and the 3rd place finisher earlier this season. We are looking to improve on his performance next season. Thank you to all of the parents, fans, teammates, alumni, AD and HFCS for their support this season. Both of our wrestlers trained hard at our 518 Annihilate club these past 2 off seasons. Without this, they wouldn't have been here."

They finished 16th in the small school division! Coach Webber also shared that, "We want to thank all our seniors: Eric, Erin, Shane, Alyssa, and especially Ava and Emma for all they have done for the program over the years, and we want to wish them luck on their next race, throw, and future plans!"🐾

Today, 26 of our National Honor Society students took a trip to HACA (Hoosick Area Church Association) with teacher Ms. Holly Cary. Students helped move 3 days' worth of food for 186 families, which included a holiday meal for each family. (Special thanks to Dave Sutton for helping with his truck and trailer to get the food over to the Reynolds-Gilchrest Skating rink!) Our NHS students also delivered 6 large bags worth of donated hygiene products, and a donation of birthday celebration items, courtesy of our FFA students! 👏🏻👏🏻
Did you know that there are two programs our students are involved in that help make the holidays for local families in our community? Our Philip Leonard Chapter of the National Honor Society organizes a Christmas Wish program and our Key Club students partner with the Kiwanis Club to hold a Toy Drive. Christmas Wish provides winter clothing such as pajamas, underwear, hats, mittens, boots, snow pants, winter coats, shoes, and toiletries to families in need. On December 6th, the NHS hosted an event for families to “shop” from our inventory of supplies, all for free. This year, they provided “Christmas Wishes” to over 70 students from more than 30 families. (Please see the attached letters to learn more about how you can help support this program.) Thank you to our students, staff, and community members who help to make these programs successful!
Our Inclusion Fusion team, along with students, staff, and members of the community, attended the 19th Annual "Freezin’ For a Reason" Polar Plunge in Lake George this past Saturday, 11/22/25. Around 2,000 plungers from around the Capital District raised over $300,000 to benefit the Special Olympics. Our team had over 65 people sign up and raised $7,603. Thank you to all who donated, attended, and supported this effort! (Thank you to Ms. Grennan for sharing this video.) Go Panthers!🐾❄️
Last week, HFCSD hosted the founder of Speak Sobriety, Stephen Hill. Hill is a renowned national speaker on the topics of substance use prevention and mental health. He is a bestselling author, an accomplished defense attorney, and offers a unique perspective as an individual who is in recovery. Hill inspires and connects with students while telling his own personal comeback story. Hill led three separate presentations- one for 8th graders, one for 10th graders, and one for our seniors. Each presentation is tailored to the age group he is speaking with. He engages with the students in a way that maintains interest, gets them asking questions, and thinking about subjects on both a personal level as well as in a broader perspective. The 12th-grade presentation, 'Know the Law, Save a Life', is designed specifically for students leaving high school and moving on to college, the military, or the workforce. It focuses on the legal changes that occur when you turn 18 and are considered an adult under the law. Topics include misdemeanors, felonies, DWAI, DWI, hosting parties, providing underage youth with illegal substances, the Good Samaritan Law, and consent versus non-consent. He delivers an impactful message, and we are grateful we could have him here to speak with our students. HFCSD plans to continue these presentations annually, as they are pertinent and inspiring. Sending a huge thank you to Stephen Hill @speaksobriety for adding Hoosick Falls to his list of stops! To learn more, please visit speaksobriety.com

Recently, our School Resource Officer (SRO), Deputy Garhartt, visited second-grade classrooms for an important presentation. Deputy Garhartt spoke with students about what a property’s '911 Address' is, and why it is so important for emergency responders to be able to locate you during an emergency. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, to think about why they should memorize their own addresses, and who it would be safe to share an address with. Deputy then handed out practice sheets so that the students could learn the parts of their own addresses, and practice writing them out to work towards memorizing them. The students are always excited to have a visit from our SRO, and this exercise was a prime example of how Deputy Garhartt collaborates with our teachers and staff to help spread important safety messages to our students. Thank you, Deputy Garhartt, for caring about our students and helping keep them safe!🚓🐾
