Earlier this month, the AP US Government in Politics class spent the day at the federal court in Albany, the Northern District of New York. Teacher, Mr. Bushner, shared that they were very fortunate that the court was super flexible with them for scheduling, and wanted to send a special thanks to our HFCS Transportation Supervisor, Mrs. Martin, who made sure they had a bus to get there, despite the two-hour delay!
Students were able to apply what they’ve learned about the judicial branch and got firsthand knowledge from one of the federal judges, Judge Mae D’Agostino. Bushner and students appreciated that the Judge gave them time out of her very busy schedule to explain so much about how our federal court system works, shared her own experiences, and also made time to answer questions from our students. Students were also able to see the Judges' chambers and received an abbreviated tour of the courthouse building, which has a very unique and rich history. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Bushner!
