🐾🎉Here is Coach Nelson's update from this past weekend's New York State Tournament for Wrestling:
"Senior Luke Gillis came up short of the podium, going 0-2 after battling an illness early in the week. Luke went down swinging in one of the toughest weight classes of the tournament. Luke has been the pillar of our team with his strong drive to get to the next level with year round training and influence on his younger teammates. He ended with a stellar high school career, finishing as a section 2 champion, 3x class finalist and 2x NYS qualifier.
Sophomore Asher Colegrove ended our 7 year drought, earning a spot in the NYS podium. Asher trailed 4-0 in his blood round match with 2 minutes left pulling out a gritty win with a last second takedown in the 3rd period and an overtime takedown to win it the match. Asher ended up finishing in 8th place. Asher defeated the 6th place finisher in the tournament and the 3rd place finisher earlier this season. We are looking to improve on his performance next season.
Thank you to all of the parents, fans, teammates, alumni, AD and HFCS for their support this season. Both of our wrestlers trained hard at our 518 Annihilate club these past 2 off seasons. Without this, they wouldn't have been here."
