🌲What a summer of adventure! Our Summer Outdoor Education Program (OEP) recently wrapped up another incredible season for students entering grades 8–12. For more than 10 years, HFCSD teachers Dan Michalak and Landon Nelson have led this free program, giving students opportunities to learn, explore, and connect with the outdoors.
This summer, students:
🥾 Hit the trails for five days of hiking
🛶 Spent four days kayaking on local waterways
🏹 Learned the fundamentals of archery
🌿 Practiced outdoor skills like navigation, first aid, weather safety, Leave No Trace, paddling techniques, and more
OEP is about more than just outdoor recreation. It's about getting outside, trying something new, unplugging, working together, and discovering the natural beauty right here in our own backyard.
A huge thank-you to Mr. Michalak and Mr. Nelson for continuing to make these experiences possible for our students year after year and for sharing these pictures.🐾
