Students were paired with local manufacturer, Regeneron, and were charged with creating a video to highlight Regeneron and encourage students to consider career pathways in the manufacturing field. Students visited the plant, GoPro in hand, took video footage out on the production floor, learned all about the pharmaceuticals Regeneron makes, interviewed employees about their jobs and experiences, and asked for their opinions on what opportunities are available in manufacturing. The students then condensed hours of footage and information into a 2 1/2-minute video, responding to the prompt, "What's so cool about manufacturing?"

The students will attend an awards event at Proctors Theater in Schenectady on April 22. A local panel will judge their video, and the students may win an award for creativity, technical expertise, and/or content, or a Viewer's Choice Award. Students worked with Teacher/Coaches Mr. Sommo and Ms. Livingstone on this project. Students involved in this project were: Ben Brown, Isaac Bushner, Alivia Cameron, Ellie Delgado, Bruce Hagadorn, Korben Michaels, Molly Mook, Abigail Nowicki, Khloe Rawling, Gretta Rowlands, Will Thompson, Ben Jones, and Colton Brust-Carreau.

The International Club celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a hearty, homemade Irish Shepherd's Pie prepared by club advisor Dr. Yudkoff. Shepherd's Pie dates back to the late 18th century in Ireland and Scotland, where it emerged as an economical meal among rural, working-class families. Lamb and mutton were the meats most available to shepherds — hence the name — and leftover cooked meat was topped with mashed potatoes, which had become a staple crop in Ireland. As the dish traveled to England, it evolved into what the British call Cottage Pie — nearly identical, but made with minced beef rather than lamb. Today the distinction is simple: Shepherd's Pie uses lamb, Cottage Pie uses beef. Both versions have since become cornerstones of British and Irish comfort food — a perfect choice to mark St. Patrick's Day and a tradition that has warmed kitchens for over two centuries.
