Fourth graders visited the Louis Miller Museum yesterday. Their program was called Who’s Who in Hoosick History BINGO Challenge. The students filled in the descriptors on a BINGO card with the names of people from our community who impacted our history. The students loved learning about local history and stories about all of the people who have made Hoosick such a special place. The program was designed by Mrs. Brownell with support from Joyce Brewer, and the volunteers of the Hoosick Township Historical Society. Mrs Brewer awarded a Stewart’s ice cream card prize to each of our BINGO participants!

The Class of 2027 recently partnered with local business Tiashoke Farm to sell their beef products for a spring fundraiser. The fundraiser included an option for people to buy 2 lbs of frozen ground beef to be donated to the Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA) Food Pantry. Jessica Zeihm from Tiashoke Farm worked with the school and committed to matching donations that were sold.
As a result of this joint effort and the generosity of Tiashoke Farm, 76 lbs of frozen ground beef was donated to HACA today! Lynne Tecker from HACA met with Jessica and the 2027 Class Officers and Advisors to accept this donation. Lynne advised that this amount of ground beef should last for approximately two weeks at the Pantry. Thank you to Tiashoke Farm and to all who supported this fundraiser!

The artwork of 35 HFCS students was displayed at Bennington Museum's Annual Student Art Show in April and May. 🎨Did you miss your chance to stop in and see their work? It's okay! We took some pictures for you. 🙂 We also recently held our annual HFCSD Art Show during the Budget Vote. The pictures in this post include the artwork, ceramics, and woodworking projects from our very talented K - 12 art students, from the Bennington Museum's Student Art Show, the HFCSD Art Show, and the Empty Bowls Fundraiser. Empty Bowls raised $1117.50 for HACA this year! Special thanks to our teachers, Mr. Millman, Ms. Collins, Mr. Viera, and Mr. Drew, for fostering creative learning environments for our students.🎨 To see more pictures, follow us Facebook!

Elementary students recently had their annual EMS Week. 🚑 Thank you to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad for spending their time with us and teaching our students about the services they provide, letting them tour the vehicles and equipment, and for answering many curious student questions!

🎉Congratulations to senior Cole Ziehm, who received a Fellowship Scholarship from Cornell University!! Only 500 students out of the 5,800 accepted students receive this prestigious nomination. He will be joining a select cohort of peers who exhibit a strong work ethic and commitment to service. This award embodies Ezra Cornell, the founder, who believed that work was an essential element of students' education. Cole exemplifies Cornellians' creative and practical thinking. Congratulations to Cole and his family for this recognition! (Thank you to our School Counselor, Ms. King, for the update!)

🏀UPDATE** They won 30-27!!! 3-Peat State Champions! GO PANTHERS!🐾

How fun are these cornhole boards?! High school students built these in their Comprehensive Construction class for the prom after-party. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Marsh!

High school students participated in our annual Wellness Fair last week. Students had to choose a health-related topic to research and then create a presentation for their peers. This is always a fun activity for the students, as it is a student-led event and an active way for them to engage in discussions surrounding various health topics. Follow us on Facebook to see more photos!

🚌The eighth graders recently went on a field trip to the Bronx Zoo!🐻🦩🦚 It was a fun day of travel, new experiences, and learning opportunities. Please enjoy these pictures of their trip, taken by our middle school teachers/chaperones. Follow us on Facebook to see all the photos!

Sixth-grade teachers proudly wore custom "Be Like Blake" shirts yesterday to celebrate and honor one of their outstanding students who has exemplified exceptional character and served as a positive role model throughout the school year. The shirts represent the faculty's recognition of Blake's inspiring influence on classmates and the school community, encouraging others to follow his example of kindness, dedication, and positive leadership. 🐾 (Thanks for capturing this, Mrs. Fleming!)

Our high school teachers and counselors are always encouraging students to think about their futures and what path they might see themselves on. Over the last few months, students have participated in numerous field trips and events to get their minds working! Sophomores visited Southwest Tech in VT to explore their program options for the junior and senior years. Students attended a Showcase at the State University of New York at Albany, and attended the Hoosick Falls Job Fair & Career Expo so they could learn more about what options are available locally. Last week, counselors arranged for colleges to come right to the school for our College Caravan, and students had the chance to ask plenty of questions and learn more about what programs the schools have to offer. To see more pictures, head over to our Facebook page!

Last week, middle school 5th-grade students who read 6+ books during the first 3 quarters earned a Book Reward! 📖Students got some time outside on a sunny day to enjoy painting with teachers Mr. Millman, Mrs. Zakrzewski, and Mrs. Grant. 🎨Keep encouraging a love of reading! 📚

Spring is always an exciting time in the elementary school! Students in the younger grades build peep houses and go on egg hunts before spring recess, and then come back to incubators filled with real eggs to hatch while they learn about life cycles. The students are always filled with wonder as they anticipate hatching day! (Thank you to our kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade teachers for offering this learning opportunity and sharing these pictures, and to the local farms that donated the eggs to hatch!)
