Our National Honor Society is sending a big "Thank you!" to Stewart's Shops for their generous Holiday Match donation of $750 to our Christmas Wish program. Stewart’s customers donate to the Holiday Match program from Thanksgiving through Christmas, and each individual donation is matched penny for penny by Stewart’s Shops.
Our Christmas Wish program provides winter clothing such as pajamas, underwear, hats, mittens, boots, snow pants, winter coats, shoes, and toiletries to families in need. Families have the opportunity to “shop” from the inventory of supplies, all for free. This past season, the program provided “Christmas Wishes” to over 120 students from more than 40 families. For questions or to learn more about how you can help and donate to this program, please contact Holly Cary: caryh@hoosickfallscsd.org

The high school students recently participated in "Class Wars". The sophomores won week 1, Penny Wars, and the juniors won week 2, Hoosick Falls Trivia. Week 3 consisted of matball and a hallway decorating contest. Each class used their creative skills to decorate a hallway with a holiday theme. We even had a few animal friends join in the fun! The sophomores came in first with their festive Christmas display.

Varsity softball pitcher, Kennedy Boisvert, met her 1000th strikeout milestone on Monday, April 14th. Kennedy is in her junior year and has been a member of the varsity team since she was in 7th grade. Varsity Coach, Nicole Martin, shared that, “Kennedy has worked very hard on her pitching game over her time playing for HFCS and has been pitching since she was around 7 years old. All of her practice paid off at Monday's game!” Kennedy had 13 strikeouts against Emma Willard on Monday, making her the 2nd athlete in program history to reach 1000, following Rachel Quackenbush, who finished her high school career with 1,502 strikeouts in 2012. Kennedy added another 14 strikeouts to her record at Tuesday's game against Granville. She has one more year left at Hoosick Falls and has already committed to play Division 1 softball for UMass in Lowell, MA. Congratulations, Kennedy!

Congratulations to senior, Lila Coon, for being presented with the Distinguished Lieutenant Governor Award from the New York District of Key Club International. Lila has acted as Lieutenant Governor (LTG) over the last year and managed responsibilities such as overseeing eight clubs around Hoosick Falls, sending out weekly updates and newsletters, and staying in contact with club boards. Lila was elected as LTG last year at the Leadership Training Conference, and has now retired from this role, passing on her term to sophomore, Troy Brown. During her time as LTG, Lila presented multiple workshops with other LTGs for the New York District Key Club, attended many board meetings with her fellow LTGs, and had the opportunity to attend the International Convention (ICON) in Atlanta, Ga, in July of 2024. Lila will be attending ICON again this year in Orlando, FL, where she hopes to present a workshop and receive another LTG Award that she applied for. The artwork of 35 HFCS students will be on display at Bennington Museum's Annual Student Art Show! (4/1-5/18/25) Saturday, April 5th, is the opening celebration! Admission is 50% off, and children 17 and under are always free.
"The annual display of artwork by students in preschool through high school examines the process of artistic development and includes work from a dozen area schools. Grouped by grade, the work demonstrates how art teachers move students through the basic elements of art to more complex principles of design, use famous artworks and works from an array of cultures and time periods, and introduce students to a variety of media and materials. The Annual Student Art Show celebrates the continuing tradition of art education in the region." -Bennington Museum
